Belize Cancer Society Hosts Successful “Let’s Talk Cancer” Forum with Leading Experts in Oncology

The Belize Cancer Society proudly hosted its “Let’s Talk Cancer” forum at Old Belize, attracting an impressive crowd of over 200 participants. Attendees included representatives from various organizations, such as the Belize Police Department and the Belize Defence Force (BDF), who joined forces to engage in insightful discussions surrounding cancer prevention, treatment, and survivorship.
The forum was marked by a powerhouse of medical professionals and specialists who shared their expertise on the latest developments in cancer care. Featured speakers included Dr. Ellsworth Grant, a distinguished Oncologist and Founder of Belize Cancer Center Dangriga; Dr. Isidora Arzu, a renowned Radiation Oncologist; and Dr. Yacab, Medical Oncologist at KHMH. These experts delivered in-depth presentations on treatment options and the vital importance of early detection in improving cancer outcomes.
In addition to the medical insights provided, the forum heard from cancer survivor and advocate Ms. Maureen Fairweather, whose inspiring story underscored the resilience of those battling the disease. Her testimony highlighted the need for continued support networks for cancer patients and their families, demonstrating the strength of community and solidarity in the fight against cancer.
Kim Simplis Barrow, President of the Belize Cancer Society, commended the speakers for their contributions and expressed her appreciation for the diverse participation at the event, stating, “The knowledge shared by these medical professionals is invaluable to our fight against cancer in Belize.
