In Belize, Cancer still has a stigma that people are afraid of saying they have been diagnosed. May 2025, marked one year since I was diagnosed with Cervical Cancer. There are many women like myself who have or had cervical cancer but due to the stigma, it is hidden. From the moment I was told that my biopsy came back positive, I knew I wanted to be a voice for all who suffer in silence. It would not be a secret I would keep.
I was skeptical at first, but after using this service for a few months, I can confidently say it has made my life easier. The tools provided are efficient and save me a lot of time. I can't imagine going back to my old methods!
I look at my diagnosis as a reminder to Belizean women, the importance of getting regular breast exams and mammograms, and to make a point that breast cancer can affect just about any woman.
